- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 bag (19 oz) frozen cheese tortellini
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the Italian sausage, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Once the sausage is fully cooked, drain any excess grease to avoid extra fat in the crockpot.
- Combine Ingredients in Crockpot: In your crockpot, combine the cooked sausage, frozen cheese tortellini, marinara sauce, and chicken broth. Stir everything together to ensure the tortellini is evenly coated with the sauce.
- Cook: Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the tortellini is tender and has absorbed the flavors of the sausage and sauce.
- Add the Cheese: In the last 30 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheeses over the top. Cover the crockpot again and allow the cheeses to melt, creating a gooey, delicious topping.
- Season and Serve: Before serving, taste and season with salt and pepper to your preference. Serve the tortellini hot, garnished with a sprinkle of fresh herbs if desired.
